Abstract:
The growing need for testing of poured material compaction in conditions where it is not possible to conduct a test with a static circular plate requires the use of a dynamic circular plate. The value of the compressibility modulus is obtained with a statistical circular plate, while the deformation modulus is determined by testing with a dynamic circular plate. With further processing of the results, compressibility calculation module is obtained.
Although the dynamic circular plate with falling weight has not passed all standards in most European countries, its application is still present. The advantages are shorter test time and the possibility of testing in narrow channels or trenches. Nevertheless, the dynamic circular plate is standardized according to DIN for embankments on railways, where dynamic loads are mainly present as a function of time.
Based on a large number of tests in the last few years with one and the other plate, and the correlation of the obtained results, it can be concluded that there is a difference of 15-20% in the values. Bearing in mind the above, the results of the dynamic circular plate are reliable and can be accepted as such when testing bulk materials.
