Abstract:
Motorcyclists, as one of the most vulnerable categories of road users, need to pay more attention to reduce the number of fatalities and the severity of consequences when a traffic accident occurs. On EU roads as well as on roads in the Republic of Serbia in the past few years there is a constant increase in the number of registered two-wheelers, and therefore the exposure of this category, as well as the risk of traffic accidents, has increased. The World Health Organization estimated that risk of fatalities is 10 times higher in driving a two-wheeler than a passenger car. Young drivers of the two-wheelers represent the most vulnerable category in relation to other age categories in the Republic of
Serbia, and therefore they need to be given more attention. The paper will analyze the velocity of the two-wheelers observed in relation to the speed limit on the road. In addition, the results of recording of the behavior of the driver of two-wheelers, apropos the use of the motorcycle restraint system will be presented. The results obtained by recording the behavior will be compared with the results obtained by the survey of attitudes and self-reported behavior of the driver of the two-wheelers. The aim of this paper is to perform a comparative analysis between self-reported behavior and attitudes related to the fast driving and use of restraint systems and recorded behavior, that is, the speed of movement and uses of the protective helmet and to determine whether there are significant differences.
