Abstract:
All-ceramic restorations have attracted much interest in dentistry because of their esthetic appeal. The selection of a resin luting material often depends on a type of dental ceramic materials which we are used.
Purpose: This study evaluated the tensile bond strength of three different resin cements to lithium disilicate ceramic using ceramic-cement-ceramic assemblies.
Material and Methods: We used lithium disilicate type of ceramics and three types of resin cements (Variolink Esthetic - VE, SpeedCEM - SC and G-CEM LinkAce – GC). The bonding surfaces of lithium disilicates ceramcs (N=30) were etched with 4.7 % HF acid for 20 s, silanized and cemented to another equal set. The specimens were randomly divided into two conditions: dry conditions (DC - immediate testing); and aging condition (AC - thermocycling 12000 times). The date were statistically evaluated using 2-way ANOVA test.
Results: After DC, the mean tensile bond strength (MPa) of VE (25.9) was significantly higher than SC (17.5) and GC (25.8). Also after AC, VE (25.6) showed higher mean tensile bond strength than those of SC (15.4) and GC (17.5).
Conclusion: VE resin cement demonstrated the highest bond strength to a lithium disilicate ceramic with and without aging conditions.
