Abstract:
Paper deals with some common questions, often misunderstood and opposed facts regarding the historic building preservation treatment and contemporary approaches to the energy preservation methods. Basic methodology principles in building preservation practice are considered, as well as main building critical points relevant to detail resolving issues. Final proposals of upgrading thermal performances in observed buildings are given balancing between maintaining character and architectural experience on one side and thermal engineering aspect on the other, without diminishing the historical values and identity of the buildings.
