Abstract:
The results of DDCT study, the most comprehensive and the most cited study about control and complications in type 1 diabetes (T1DM), clearly showed that intensified therapy regimen reduced the occurrence and progression of late complications of the disease. In Republic of Srpska during 2008 insulin pump therapy was introduced to patients with incipient diabetic nephropathy, diabetic retinopathy and patients with poorly controlled T1DM in period of preconception. The aim of our study was to determine adherence to modern insulin pump therapy. Adherence to insulin pump therapy shows the motivation of patients to maximize the use of existing modern treatment methods that has the aim to stop the existing late complications of the disease and achieve positive effects on microcirculation, including the circulation of dental tissues and thus improvement wound healing after tooth extraction.
