Abstract:
The Tc-99 sorption behavior was predicted by investigating its stable analogue perrhenate anion (75ReO4-), thus evading the use of a radioactive element in high doses. Macroporous crosslinked methacrylate copolymer functionalized with diethylene triamine was tested as the sorbent in acetate buffer (pH 5.0) at 298K. The pseudo-second-order model provided the best fit for the kinetic data, while the intraparticle diffusion model indicated a pronounced influence on the sorption rates. The maximum sorption capacity in acetate buffer was 109 mg g-1, that is higher than 95 % removal efficiency after 3h.
