Abstract:
Complex stress state of rim in the contact zone between wheel and rail
varies depending of vehicle exploatation regime. Wheel load and inertia force produce
normal stresses, and shear stress is alsooccured in contact zone at starting and
braking.Thermal stresses at braking produce changes in structure, deformation and
tribological effects on wheel wreath. This paper analyzes these influences and derives
analitical equations for state of strees which quantify these influences.
