Abstract:
Technologies of rapid prototyping and rapid tooling are becoming more and more available. In a wide range of these technologies three dimensional printing (3D printing) is most commonly used. 3D printing is a process used to generate tooling and functional prototype parts directly from computer models. The technology of 3D printing is widely used in automotive industry, aeronautical industry, military industry, medicine, industry of consumer goods, etc. Reverse engineering is closely related to 3D printing technology. Equipment used for reverse engineering can be used also to examine the 3D printed model (workpiece). This paper presents a procedure of CAD-to-part inspection of a 3D printed workpiece. For this purpose an Articulated Arm Coordinate Measuring Machine (AACMM) MCAx 20+ with Focus 10.1 software and a MMDx laser scanner with CMM Manager software were used.
