Abstract:
This paper presents a practical way of gears modeling using current CAD software tools. To automate the modeling process, parametric approach was used, which is applied to the modeling of certain elements, and the modeling of the gear train assembly. By connecting the parameters of certain parts of the gear train, modeling process becomes much easier and faster. This approach enables quick and easy creation of different versions of a gear train model, which could be the basis for the optimization and automation of the complete design process. CAD models of gear trains, obtained by the proposed method can be used for different types of analysis, and with its further elaboration, it is possible to create complete models and complete design documentation. The proposed approach is illustrated with practical examples that show significant improvements in the speed of creation and the quality of CAD models in comparison with classical approach.
