Abstract:
Due to the high demand of reducing residential energy consumption, the term net zero energy building is widespread in the world. Over the last decades, according to development of modern technologies and materials, as well as development of energy simulation and optimization software packages, increased the number of buildings from the category of net zero.
The paper gives an overview of technologies and strategies applied to achieve the concept of zero, depending on the climatic region. Examples of successfully completed projects and buildings show that a net zero energy buildings are competitive with conventional and rapidly will become the standard in developed countries
